This pre-course will ensure you get the most out of the Hard Ice 1 course? This 1-day pre-course will go over the basic technical knowledge around ropework, abseiling, and ascending. This will allow you to focus more on performing on the ice as compared to trying to remember how to tie specific knots or wrap a prusik.

Who is this course for?
One of the most common concerns about Hard Ice (Jökla 1) is that the 4-day course was too short. This can be especially true for students who do not have previous technical knowledge (knots, ropework, etc). In order to address this concern, we’ve added an optional (but highly recommended) 1-day pre-course, which aims to help build a foundation of technical knowledge.
THE FOLLOWING TOPICS ARE COVERED:
Knots (Figure 8, overhand, clove hitch and munter hitch)
Equalizing Anchors and focal point knots
Basics of abseiling and ascending
When you sign up for the course you will receive a list of required gear. Also, if you are curious about the gear, feel free to send us an email and ask us about it before you sign up. Glacier Adventure can provide gear as well upon request such as crampons, boots, cordelettes, and some other technical gear.
