Glacier Adventure feel´s strongly obligated to help and educate about climatic changes and support sustainability.  Therefore, Glacier Adventure is establishing a Glacier- and Mountain center in the old Barn and Cow house in Hali, that will focus on Sustainability and Climatic Changes.  The center is part of developing a Global responsibility plan.

Throughout the years we have been so fortunate to meet and get to know interesting individuals that do research and work on educating others about climatic changes and we have been able to collaborate with few of them and support them with their projects in many different ways.

Below you will find few of the project that the Glacier- and Mountain center has been supporting and/or participating in to help make more awareness of climatic changes.

In the summer of 2021 a team of filmmakers, glaciologists and science communicators installed two-time laps camera at Breiðamerkurjökull, the glacier that feeds Iceland´s world famous Jökulsárlón Glacier lagoon. By clicking above link, you can see the melt of Breiðamerkurjökull from 29th July 2021 – 5th Sept 2021 and you can support the scientist by donating small amount to support their project.

Scientific Tourism (SCITOUR) is a development project aiming at creating a new technology-based tourism concept combining science and tourism. The scientific tourism products created through the project will be promoted using the brand name ‘Wonder Seekers.  Glacier Adventure has been so lucky to work with https://goputney.com, https://studyabroad.sit.edu and https://gs.hornafjordur.is This program has allowed Glacier Adventure to develop educational cooperation with the University center in Höfn ( https://www.hi.is/rannsoknaseturhofn )

The Glacier- & Mountain center helps out with measuring ground level from three different bore holes in Hali, during the wintertime this is done once a month and during the summertime once a week.  We are so excited to see how this cooperation develops in the long run.
