Then you should definitely join our combo tour! This is a combination of the two most popular activities to do in Iceland. Boat ride on Iceland’s largest glacial lagoon and a glacier hike on Europe’s largest glacier.
THE TOURS
The combo tour is divided into a Glacier Walk on Vatnajökull and a Zodiac Boat ride in the Jökulsárlón – Glacier Lagoon. This tour is recommended for those who want to see the glacier from different points of view.
There are two departure times for the tour, either 09:00 or 14:00.
If you book the 09:00 o’clock Adventure Combo Tour, you will be booked on the 16:00 o’clock Zodiac Boat Tour with Ice Lagoon.
If you book the 14:00 o’clock Adventure Combo Tour, you will be booked on the 09:00 o’clock Zodiac Boat Tour with Ice Lagoon.
The glacier hike starts from Glacier Adventure meeting point, Hali. While the zodiac boat ride starts from Ice Lagoon meeting point, Jökulsárlón.
For both tours, it is recommended to be there 15 minutes before.
The tours are in two sperate locations, self-drive in between locations.
GLACIER WALK
To prepare for your Glacier Walk, you will get an ice ax, crampons, harness and short safety briefing from your guide. It is necessary to have the correct footwear when going on a glacier hike.
Our guide takes you on an unforgettable journey on Breiðamerkurjökull, one of Vatnajökull biggest outlet glacier. On the glacier, we walk through a wonderland of glacial ice sculptures, ridges and the deep crevasses of the glacier. The blue and white ice also carries with its ash from previous volcanic eruptions. You will as well learn about the geology and the history of the area.
The tour can take between 3,5 and 4 hours (1 – 1,5 hours on the glacier).
ZODIAC BOAT
Glacier Lagoon – Jökulsarlón is one of the most popular attractions in Iceland where you can see the floating icebergs in the lagoon in all shapes and colors. This is the perfect place to experience unspoiled nature and unique environment where huge icebergs calve off the glacier. You will get an hour on the lagoon, but in total, the tour is 1 hour and 45 minutes.
You get to see the icebergs up close with the zodiac boat even go up to the glacier wall as much as safety allows. You will have enough time to enjoy, see wildlife and take pictures.
FULL DAY
This is a full day of adventure.
Before or after the tour we recommend walking to the Black Diamond Beach where you often can see small icebergs on the shore that look like diamonds.
Also, you have enough time in-between the tour to rest, have lunch and get ready for the next journey.
If you don’t have time for all of this, then we offer just the glacier walk that takes about 4hours and plenty of other tours.
