Our guests often ask us what restaurants we recommend in Höfn. We have listed them all up for you.

Höfn is a small fishing town in south-east Iceland. It is just 45 minutes drive from Glacier Adventures base camp. In Höfn you will find many excellent restaurants.

The name Höfn means harbor. Höfn is surrounded by the ocean on 3 sides.

Pakkhús – Restaurant by the harbor

Pakkhús is a restaurant by the harbour and it is located beside the information centre in town. The menu emphasises local ingredients from the area around the Vatnajökull Region.
On the 2nd floor is the restaurant which takes 60-100 people seating. On the 1st floor, there is a comfortable waiting area and a bar.

Heppa Restaurant – By the harbor

Heppa Restaurant is a top-quality restaurant by the harbour. We operate a brewery on site and are proud to offer 17 beers on tap, as well as a substantial bottle/can selection. The restaurant opened in 2023 and has great ambitions on providing a great and exiting food and drinks experience for all our guests.

Our restaurant easily seats 200 guests and in a separate room we can accommodate groups of up to 150 people. We are the venue if you want to throw a party, hold a meeting or just to enjoy a great craft beer and delicious food in good company.

Íshúsið Pizzeria, located near the harbour. The pizzeria emphasizes on thin stone-baked pizzas using high-quality ingredients.

Z-Bistro

Z-Bistro is a restaurant in a walking distance from the harbor. They offer breakfast from 08:00-10:00, lunch, dinner, drinks and coffee. On the menu, they have pizzas, lobster, burgers, fish, and steaks. They also have a children’s menu.

Kaffihornið

Kaffi Hornið brings the best local ingredients to the table. Right on Höfn’s main road sits Kaffi Hornið. There you can find seafood brought straight from sea to the table. Tempting dishes from filling plates of lamb to salads topped with chicken or lobster. Soup served daily with homemade bread and a salad bar is open for guests who want a small but filling lunch.

Vegetarians are not left out. As a dish of pan-fried chickpea cutlets remain one of the more popular dishes. This restaurant and café, with airy cathedral ceilings and ample seating for guests. Has been successful since opening in 1999, alternating as a restaurant, cafe, and bar.

Hótel Höfn – Ósinn restaurant

Hótel Höfn, founded in the year 1966 is one of the better-established hotels in Höfn. Outside of the hotel there is breathtaking view over the glaciers and mountains.

The dining room on the second floor can seat around 100 people and restaurant Ósinn can seat up to 50. They emphasise using local and high quality Icelandic raw food. Offering wide range of dishes, from local langoustine to pasta and vegetarian dishes. You can see their menu here.

Hafnarbúðin

Hafnarbúðin is a cheerful small old-school diner. Offering a menu of fast-food favourites with a local twist. Like lobster baguettes, fish and chips, sandwiches and hot dogs. Do not miss the burgers named after a local fisherman. There is a special breakfast menu in the morning. Offering classic dishes as well as local favourites and some coffee of cause. Cheap food right by the harbour.

Birki –

offer service to both groups and individuals. On the ground floor, they have tables for 60 persons in an open spacious room. On the top floor they have tables for 30 persons. Or if you like some privacy they have the Boardroom seating for approximately 12 persons.
