At Glacier Adventure, one of our goals is to inspire our guests to embrace a more sustainable way of thinking. Glaciers are not just beautiful — they’re vital indicators of how our planet is changing. We hope that through experiences like this, we can spark curiosity and conversation about protecting these incredible natural places for future generations.
The VR experience was created by the Icelandic company Into the Blue — the same folks behind projects like the short film After Ice and the Lava Centre exhibition in Hvolsvöllur. They’re working on developing a new interactive exhibition here at Hali, and this is the very first version. We’d love your help making it even better.
Right now, you can pop on a headset and find yourself standing on a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. In this 360° world, you can turn and see the glacier behind you, see the lagoon stretching out in front, and hear a few interesting facts about this incredible area. The whole experience takes around 3 minutes — short, simple, and a great way to experience the landscape from a different perspective.
After you’ve tried the VR, you’ll find a QR code nearby that you can scan to leave your feedback. It only takes a minute and your thoughts will help shape what comes next.
Whether you’re gearing up for a glacier hike, just finished an ice cave tour, or simply passing through on your Ring Road trip, swing by our barn and give the VR a go. It’s a fun little bonus experience and a nice chance to warm up with a hot drink too.
