Drone Photography Workshops in Iceland
Small-group photography workshops guided by professional landscape photographer and licensed drone pilot Hörður Kristleifsson
About our Photography Workshops

Join professional photographer and licensed drone pilot Hörður Kristleifsson for a photography workshop focused on capturing Iceland's landscapes from above with your drone. Limited to six participants, allowing Hörður to work closely with each person, teaching you how to master drone flight in unpredictable conditions, understand Icelandic weather patterns, and find the unique compositions that characterize his work. By staying flexible and following the light rather than sticking to a fixed tourist path, the group can seize the most rewarding photographic opportunities the island offers.

Travel takes place in a custom-modified 4x4 Mercedes Sprinter, designed to navigate the rough tracks and river crossings of the Icelandic Highlands. It also offers a comfortable mobile base with onboard charging stations. All workshops are fully licensed and organized by Glacier Adventure, ensuring a safe, professional, and well-planned experience in Iceland's remote areas. What our guests say

My experience with the drone photography workshop offered by Glacier Adventure was truly incredible. I cannot have asked for a better experience! From the time I arrived in Reykjavik until the time I left, everything was handled with class!

Probably the most important and valuable aspect of the workshop is getting to work with Hörður. Firstly, he's a great person and will do whatever he can to ensure you have a memorable trip, even if it means waking up at 3:30AM to catch the sunrise. His skills with a drone are second to none. I learned SO many techniques and things about my drone that I didn't know. He's incredibly patient and never judged me for having questions. His understanding of drones, camera gear, Iceland, and the editing process are endless. He's an amazing resource that knows all the local spots and regulations.

Secondly, the aerial photography itself was some of the best of my life. Hörður was constantly checking weather reports and maps to find the best lighting and weather conditions to fly our drones. He took us to some of the most beautiful river systems, beaches, and glaciers in Iceland. Hörður would talk you through what settings and compositions he'd be looking for. We put our DJI Mavic 4 Pros to the test, and it definitely paid off. After flying our drones in the field, we would find time to edit our shots together. Hörður would walk us through his editing process from start to finish using mainly Adobe Lightroom. I learned so much and my photography has been forever elevated!

Lastly, Hörður and his team were masters at handling all of the logistics. On the day I arrived in Reykjavik, Hörður took me to the local DJI store to make sure I had enough spare batteries and propellers for my drone. The hotels we stayed at throughout the tour were all cozy and comfortable. The food and restaurants we stopped at along our journey were great. We also made frequent stops at local grocery stores to ensure we were stocked up on snacks and caffeine. For transportation, you drive around in a Mercedes Sprinter van that handles both paved roads and off-roading like a champ. Hörður also had three DJI power stations in the van to ensure all our batteries remained charged!

I loved the Drone Photography Tour from Glacier Adventure. Book this tour if you want to experience the real Iceland and take your photography to the next level!
