The glacier tour starts and ends at our cozy base camp at Hali, only 12km east of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. At Hali you will be welcomed by the Glacier Adventure staff and provided with all the necessary glacier equipment you need for this tour.
From Hali base camp we will drive towards the glacier on our modified jeeps, for approx. 30 minutes. From the parking lot, we will walk towards the glacier in a lunar landscape that has been shaped through the years by the retrieving glacier, the walk takes approx. 10 minutes.
The total duration of the glacier tour is around 3 hours, with around 1 hour inside the ice cave. The level of this glacier tour is easy and family-friendly. Minimum age is 10 years old
Please note: We will not be the only group visiting the ice caves. This has become an incredibly popular winter activity in Iceland. Other ice cave tour companies bring guests to visit the cave which can cause it to be crowded. Please expect to share the ice cave with additional groups
You might be able to see the northern light after the tour, also known as aurora borealis. In Iceland, you are able to see the northern lights for around eight months a year from late August till late April. Winter season is definitely the most common time to see the northern lights in Iceland. It is really nice to go watch the northern lights at the Glacier Lagoon and the Diamond beach which is only 15 minutes away from our meeting point.
All glacier trips are taken at the responsibility of participants. Glacier Adventure does not take responsibility for accidents which are caused by their customers or can be traced to their own actions.
