Glacier Adventure is a family-run company, that revolves around Vatnajökul Europe’s largest glacier, and its surrounding mountains. We specialize in hiking tours, glacier walks, and blue ice cave tours, and operate tours all year round. All of our tours start and end at our cozy base camp at Hali, only 12km east of Jökulsárlón i.e. The Glacier Lagoon one of Iceland’s most popular attractions. At Hali you will be welcomed by the Glacier Adventure staff. There we will provide you with all the necessary glacier equipment like crampons, ice axe, helmet, and harness
On all of our tours, you will explore the stunning outlet glacier called Breiðarmerkurjökull which extends from Vatnajöklull Glacier, the largest glacier in Europe. From Hali base camp we will transport you towards the glacier on our modified jeeps, the drive takes approx. 30-40 minutes. From the parking lot, we will walk towards the glacier in a lunar landscape that has been shaped through the years by the retrieving glacier, the walk takes approx. 30-40 minutes.
As Glacier Adventure is part of the local community Glacier Adventure also resells tours for our local friends with a low commission rate. You will find below the tours Glacier Adventure operates solely, we call those tours “our tours “. Tours that are operated by our local friends are called “local tours”. Glacier Adventure also cooperates with other local companies through “combo tours” where part of the tour is operated by Glacier Adventure and the other part is operated by our local friends.
SUMMER TOURS
During the summer season, from May- September we offer two types of Glacier Adventure Tours. Once you step onto the ice it will feel like you are located on an icy planet. You will explore crevasses as well as little waterfalls and streams that form sinkholes called “moulins,” along with other beautiful features of the glacier. On the tour, you will also get the chance to learn about the glacier, its history, how it was formed, and how it continues to change and shape every day.

WINTER TOURS
During the winter season, from October – April we offer two types of Blue Ice Cave Tours. It is such a unique experience to be able to stand inside an ancient glacier and the picturesque blue ice will make you feel like you are in a fairytale. The Ice Caves are constantly changing and we can spot changes from day to day. The caves collapse and reform each summer so before each season we need to go out to scout for new caves. This is truly a unique experience!
